The release date of Prabhas’ much-awaited film ‘Salaar’ has been rescheduled due to technical issues. The film, which was earlier scheduled to release on September 28, has now reportedly been planned for a Christmas release. This puts it in direct competition with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Donkey’, which has already secured the Christmas slot.
Christmas 2023: ‘Donkey’ vs ‘Salaar’.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has confirmed the news on Instagram, saying that ‘Salaar’ is expected to release on December 22, 2023, the same day as ‘Donkey’. This is not the first time such a clash has taken place – in 2018, Khan’s ‘Zero’ and Hombale Films’ ‘KGF’ competed for Christmas viewers.
Taran Adarsh wrote on his Instagram, “Yes, it’s true… Shahrukh vs Prabhas, ‘Donkey’ vs ‘Salaar’ this Christmas… Exhibitors have received a mail stating that Salaar this Christmas (22 will arrive on December 2023)… An official announcement will be made by the makers, HombleFilms, on Friday (29 September 2023). This is the second time that HombleFilms is clashing with SRK… In 2018 [Christmas], it will be Zero Vs KGF (First Part). SRK had already blocked Christmas (22nd December 2023) for Donkey… and now Prabhas is also staking claim on 22nd December 2023 (sic).”

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunky’ will mark the actor’s first film with Rajkumar Hirani and will star Taapsee Pannu in a pivotal role. While previous reports were indicating a delay in the release of ‘Donkey’, the actor officially confirmed during the success meeting of ‘Jawaan’ that the film is set to release in theaters on Christmas.

Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ is directed by Prashanth Neel and stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan and Meenakshi Choudhary among others in lead roles. The makers have not yet made an official announcement about the new release date of the film and fans cannot wait for this much-awaited film.
